Performance-based Workshops

Three men discussing business documents around a table in a bright office.

Performance DNA™ - The Blueprint for Achieving Business Goals Workshop (On site or Online)

Performance Consultants are the doctors of the business world. They analyze before they prescribe a solution. We define HPI as the practice of taking a systematic approach to assess individual, process and organizational performance to identify performance barriers and facilitators in order to recommend, design, develop, and implement the most appropriate solutions to close performance gaps.

Performance DNA™ -The Blueprint for Achieving Business Results  - This workshop includes a validated set of tools and job aids called Performance DNA™ because these tools and job aids are the gold standard in HPI and it has been successfully trained to over 10,000 people over the last 20 years. It was also co-written by Dennis Mankin the founder of Platinum Performance.

Performance DNA is a holistic approach to the analysis of human performance. The principal theory underlying this approach is that human performance is similar to any organic system – it is organized according to a blueprint or code, which enables the organism to thrive. This approach is based on the concept that performance factors unfold in a predictable order: from influence through goals. They are designed to be effective in complex high technology environments, sales or manufacturing, and every situation in between.

The Performance DNA analysis process has been successfully used in government organizations, not for profit and private industry for many years with measurable ROI results in every case, making it the most practical, effective and efficient process for any HPI consulting needs in any organization.

The Performance DNA- The Blueprint for Achieving Business Results workshop will include:  a common language, terms and definitions used by HPI practitioners worldwide and taught with interactive activities, and real-life practices.  Experienced practitioner and facilitator will show participants how to use the tools and templates (which are all job aided) efficiently and effectively in your own organization.

Course length: On-site - Three days

Course length: On-line – Eight 2-hour blended sessions

Essentials of Performance-Based Job Aids™ Workshop (Online)

These three 1 ½ hour hands-on on-line sessions are designed to guide participants through an abbreviated performance analysis and job aid design and development lifecycle. Over three sessions, learners will move from identifying performance gaps using Performance DNA Analysis* to designing and practicing the creation of effective job aids.

Participants will gain the skills, knowledge and tools to:

  • DETERMINE if there is a need for learning or knowledge (or skills development).
  • DECIDE where knowledge should reside (i.e., a job aid).
  • DETERMINE the appropriate format and structure of effective and efficient job aids.
  • PLAN and design the appropriate job aids.
  • VALIDATE and test the effectiveness of job aids.
  • MEASURE the overall impact of job aids on achieving organizational goals.

Each participant will receive a set of tools and job aids for designing and building  effective job aids that will improve performance & achieve your goals.

*Note: The Performance DNA approach leads the analyst through the HPI journey – from articulating the organization’s business goal, through the entire performance analysis process, leading to the identification of key influences that affect performance in the workplace.

Key Takeaway: By the end of this workshop, you will have a ready-to-use job aids, know when and how to use them effectively and a repeatable framework for analyzing performance needs in your organization.

The Performance Dashboard™ (Online or Onsite)

This workshop was designed to be used by anyone interested in using a simple ‘performance-based’ diagnostic tool to identify key influences either preventing or enabling high performance in a workplace.

The Performance DNA Dashboard ™ tools are coupled with a fast-paced 1½ day (hands on) workshop or four 2hr online workshops.

The Performance DNA Dashboard™ is based on a set of validated tools and processes called Performance DNA Analysis™. These tools have been successfully used since 2003 by over 10,300 analysts, in a wide variety of industries and government agencies worldwide.

The Performance DNA Dashboard™ includes a simple job aid and toolbox that are designed to be used at anytime to give a manager/leader a quick snapshot of the key influences impacting a work group’s performance and how to act on improving their team’s performance quickly.  When a more extensive ‘performance analysis’ is required we recommend a more comprehensive set of tools such as Performance DNA analysis™ be used.

The tools can be used to identify and understand where the ‘gaps’ in performance exist and will provide a roadmap to guide them on how to close that gap to improve workplace performance.

The Performance DNA Dashboard™ uses a unique positive approach of analysis by interviewing exemplary performers to “find what is right to fix what is wrong” rather than looking only at what is ‘wrong’ in low performers. This also enables faster overall change in an organization.

The tools and process can be applied in a matter of a few hours instead of days or weeks in a typical performance analysis removing the long and often complicated tasks of doing an exhaustive task analysis or hiring external consultants to do the work.

This simple and powerful performance improvement process will enable the leader to find the most effective path to achieving their goals by maximizing the effectiveness of their teams.

Performance DNA™ Training Design (Onsite)

The Performance DNA Training Design Workshop is a 3-day complete, onsite workshop using a state-of–the-art, flexible set of tools (or job aids) to design and develop performance-based instructional materials.

With flexibility and completeness of the analysis process in mind, the tools are designed to meet the needs of both a newly indoctrinated performance analyst and a seasoned ISD professional. They are designed to be effective in complex high technology environments, sales or manufacturing, and every situation in between.

The tools are based on the validated work and processes of pioneers in human performance improvement (HPI) such as Thomas Gilbert and others, while incorporating decades of real-world execution. They include the best tools and processes for today’s complex and rapidly changing workplace.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of the workshop, participants should be able to produce the following outcomes:

• Effective decisions concerning the selection of appropriate learning interventions

• Performance-based instructional materials (curricula, job aids and course designs) that result in valuable outcomes for target learners

The course includes a Case Study which participants will use to review findings from a Performance DNA analysis and make decisions about what to train and how best to train.

In addition to standard course materials, participants receive a complete set of guides (job aids) to support their work, as well as a set of templates/worksheets that can use beyond the class to apply this methodology.

The Facilitator will share real life examples, brief presentations to overview the process, and provide an interactive environment to ensure transfer of critical skills in building performance-based training.
